The Cam Feeder

Smart bird feeder cameras

The camera feeder, taken seriously

Honest picks for smart bird feeders with a camera. We compile what each maker publishes, print what it refuses to publish, do the three-year arithmetic, and put a live price beside every pick.

Why trust any of this

We have not touched these

Everyone in this category says they tested twenty feeders. We have tested none, and we say so on every page. What we do instead is compile the published specifications and show our arithmetic.

Prices go stale, so they disappear

Every price is pulled from the retailer and stamped with the date. When our data is older than 48 hours the number vanishes and the button reads 'Check price' instead. We would rather show nothing than a number that quietly went wrong.

The gaps are the finding

64 specifications across these products are ones the makers decline to publish. We print every one of them as “not published” rather than filling the gap with a guess.

Every pick names its wrong buyer

A recommendation with no downside is an advertisement. Every product on this site carries a “skip this” line saying who should not buy it.

Read these first

Three questions decide whether you end up happy with one of these, and no product listing answers any of them. The IOC recognizes 11,063 living bird species; the whole of North America has 1,161. Your feeder will see a few dozen.

How this is funded

The Cam Feeder is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Buying through a link here earns us a commission at no extra cost to you. It does not change what we recommend, the order we recommend it in, or what we are willing to say about it — and where a product is worth avoiding, we say so on the page that would have earned us the money.
